Wangfujing No. 45 / 王府井45号

The lot of the future hotel is located on the northern part of the Wangfujing Street in Beijing. The site closes the lot between the existing FuHao Hotel and the Wangfujing Street.
The given lot offers a buildable area of roughly 37m x 45m, of which the long side is facing towards the street. The original height limitation was 30m, but later changed to 40m.
Taking into consideration the extreme demand of square meters as the highest requirement (floor area multiplied with floors) we developed a concept in which all the guest rooms are facing towards the outside. The rooms form a ring, which from the third floor on is enclosing the empty middle of the building. But what happens in the center?

A core or center was developed, which houses all the public facilities, as there are spa, gym, bars, meeting areas, entertainment facilities and so on. This core will not fill the whole middle but leaves space for an atrium, which will bring light even down into the lobby level.
One main feature of this core is the penetration of functions through the hotel room ring towards the outside. These functions or spaces will be then visible from the outside, because they are sticking out.

The entrance to the lobby for the hotel is located in the 2nd floor; therefore the ground floor can be commercially used and easily accessed from the outside.
In addition to the ground floor, the 2nd floor also has commercial areas for convenient use by the hotel guests.
The “core” can be accessed through the ground level and also the 2nd floor, allowing both, the guests and other visitors to access the facilities as spa, gym and bars…
Therefore the hotel with its functions is equal a microcosm of the city…
The more or less standardized hotel rooms will gain additional qualities due to different window openings and therefore different, more individual outlooks.

酒店,并非只是一个住宿的地方,应该提供更多的服务;对于一些特定的人群在特定的时间里酒店不仅仅充当一个客房,餐厅或酒吧等角色,而更像是一个家,一个集娱乐,消遣和消费的场所。进入酒店,客人犹如进入了另一个世界,在这里人们可以有新的体验,进入一个充满幻想、奢华和欲望,一个时尚的拥有佳肴和众多优雅贵族人士的境界…
北京是中国的首都,一个充满各种可能性和愿望的超大型都市。位于这样的一座城市的酒店将会成为所有这些愿望、幻想和非常事件的集合体。

设计背景,用地概况
在北京王府井大街的北部有很多未来酒店。用地被富豪酒店和王府井东大街围合成了一个封闭的区域。南向是王府井的一个豪华酒店,而这两座酒店的对面是首都剧场。可建设用地大致呈37米x45米的矩形,长边面向大街。限高从30米变为40米即增加了两层。
在严格控制建筑面积要求的前提下我们提出了一种概念,所有的客房都与外界有最直接联系。
一个环形平面,三层的建筑围绕着一个中心天井,那么天井里将发生什么样的事件呢?
中心/核心
核心区域发展成为一座塔,所有房间都是公共的、包括洗澡、健身、酒吧、会议室、表演设施等等。它不会占满整个中心天井,更不会影响到均匀射入大厅里的灿烂阳光。核心贯穿整个功能块成为一个主要特征,同时有助于酒店的所有房间都可以与外界有直接联系。这些功能或空间使人们可以看到更多的来自外部的信息。
入口
进入酒店的主要入口位于建筑的第二层,因此第一层可以被作为商业或与城市有紧密联系的一个开放区域,除了一层,二层也有一些商业设施为入住的旅客服务
而“核心”在贯通一层和二层的同时为旅客和其他访问者提供便利的洗浴,健身,酒吧等服务,因此整个酒店更像是一个微型城市
客房
或多或少的标准酒店客房(标准尺寸于设计)会因不同的开窗方式带来看到不同的景而添加额外的品质
